Afternoons R.O.C.K. at the YMCA
Afternoons R.O.C.K. at the YMCA
A free alcohol, tobacco and other drug use prevention program for boys and girls ages 10-14 years old and in grades four through eight.
Nearly two-thirds of all new drug use in Indiana begins between the sixth grade and the end of the ninth grade. This experimentation often occurs in the after-school hours when youth are more likely to be unsupervised.
Afternoons R.O.C.K. at the YMCA meets after school until 6 p.m. at the YMCA for a total of 18 days. Students are bused from the various elementary schools to the Y and parents pick up at the Y. This is a FREE program! Youth benefit from structured recreation and an evidence-based drug abuse prevention program in a safe and supervised environment.
Activities include: snacks, swimming, social time, recreation, crafts, guest speakers, help with homework and focused prevention activities. Students must pre-register and commit to attending all 18 sessions.
Fall Session: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays beginning Sept. 1 through Oct. 13 (will not meet on Sept. 15).
Afternoons R.O.C.K. is funded by the SAMHSA SAPT Block Grant CFDA 93.959 through Family and Social Services Administration/Division of Mental Health and Addiction.
