Words from YMCA director

Summer is a favorite time of year. For children, summer vacation is a time to explore activities that interest them. For all of us it's a time to be thankful and enjoy the beauty of the outdoors, to visit parks, or to work in the yard or garden. It’s a time to pursue recreational activities like swimming, hiking and biking. Summer is also a time for family barbecues and summer sports like baseball, golf and tennis or just a time to enjoy a good book on a rainy day.
The YMCA can help you in your planning to make the most out of your summer.
Busy parents will be especially interested in our Day Camp, knowing that their children will always be supervised. Kids need to play, keep learning and make friends with other children. Our field trips will take them to new places, help them learn and stimulate their imaginations.
It’s also the best time to teach kids to swim. Swimming is still rated as one of the best exercises. Our two-week class format in the morning allows for the most success. Working parents can take advantage of our Tuesday and Thursday evening classes.
We recommend our summer swim team for those who want to become physically fit! Now in its second year this popular program teaches the rewards of hard work.
We look forward to hiring, training and supervising the summer staff to ensure a safe summer.
At the YMCA we have much to be thankful for. First and foremost are our dedicated staff and board of directors, and some 235 additional volunteers. We also thank our Round Table donors and all those businesses that sponsor our youth sports teams. Without your help none of this would be possible.
