Nursing home does well in inspection

Mountainside Residential Care Center in Margaretville was pronounced deficiency-free in an unannounced survey conducted by the state Department of Health between Jan. 26 and 29, according to a media release from the nursing home.

Mountainside Administrator Philip Mehl said nursing homes are cited for an average of six-to-nine violations during DOH reviews, which occur every six-to-15 months.

During the four-day review at Mountainside, the release said, five DOH personnel reviewed every aspect of the nursing home’s operation _ including care audits, chart audits, safety procedures and interviews with staff and residents’ family members.

Mountainside scored well during last year’s DOH survey, with only two deficiencies cited, Mehl said, and neither of those deficiencies were care-related.

Mountainside Residential Care Center is an 82-bed long-term care facility located on the campus of Margaretville Memorial Hospital.
